Selected Biotopes of Juniperus communis L. in Slovakia and Their Chemotype Determination

The objective of this work was to map population common juniper (Juniperus communis L.) in the territory Slovak Republic. Common is not protected by Slovakian law or authorities; therefore, there no preserve these plant populations. It confirmed that berries usually contain from 0.5 ± 0.05 1.8 0.06%, 1.2 0.16%, volatile oil depending geography, altitude, ripeness, other factors. Volatile made up mostly monoterpenes, mainly α-pinene (from 37.60 2.23 61.00 0.60%), β-myrcene 8.03 2.02 10.56 0.05%), sabinene 3.50 0.30 22.0 0.96%). dendrogram constructed after hierarchical cluster analysis based substances, which showed four different chemotypes. widely used medicines, perfumes, insect repellents, insecticides, shoe polish, microscopy as clearing agent an immersion oil. quality chemotypes are very important national beverage “Borovicka” distillery industry whole country.
